[Change] Transport stream: Added new Shift+Tools>Options, "15. Sample points to check for PMT ... " to improve subtitle detection.

This change is specifically for users who have trouble detecting subtitles from Finish TV broadcasts. If TVSuite isn't detecting subtitles, try increasing this value to 2,3 or 4. Usually a value of "2" will suffice. What this does is cause TVSuite to scan for different program maps at multiple places in the source file. We've found that Finish broadcasts often start with one program map and then change the program map part way into the file to reflect the presence of subtitle streams. This should help detect that.

Beta build 566 has been posted.

There are quite a few changes in this beta so please read the release notes carefully.

For those where the AC3 frames go silent when authoring, we think this has been fixed.

There is now a dual pass encoding option on the DVD output options video tab. In our experiments we have found that this significantly improves the quality of the output DVD at low bit rates ( < 3 Mbps). NOTE: When using the dual pass encoding, the estimated time remaining gets reset for each title and is not reliable. This will be addressed in an upcoming beta.

The DVD re-encoder now offers a multi-threaded option (enabled by default) which gives a 20-30% speed improvement when recoding on dual core systems. We haven't done speed tests on quad cores.

If you still need to have "Ignore Transport Stream Maps" checked to open your files, then try setting "#11, Number of Times a PMT has to be read" to a larger value like 10 or 20. The default for new installs has been increased from 6 to 10, but won't change for existing installs. This parameter is on the shift+Tools>Options>Page.

We just found a small problem with the batch manager in build 568. Until we get a new build out, if you're having problems adding a single project or file in the batch manager, copy the VideoReDoBatch.exe from build 567 into the 568 installation folder.

We will try to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Beta 570 has been posted.

New frame type display option with thumbnails. Enable it on the View>Thumbnail options.

Saving to DVR-MS files with Vista should no longer require UAC bypass or Admin privileges.

There's a new version of the embedded license manager in this build. Doesn't change anything but a couple of users had reported some DEP problems on XP SP3. We hope this build addresses it.

Beta 573 has been posted.

.wtv support has been improved. You should be able to QSF most NTSC files to other formats. If you save in DVR-MS format, metadata is preserved. Direct editing seems to work well on many, but not all, files. PAL files recorded from DVB tuners, audio support is still not working 100% of the time. .wtv uses a new technique of multiplexing audio streams and we haven't completed support for it yet.

We think we've addressed the DVR-MS issue when saving HD files. Navigation on the saved file should now be smooth, and the file length should be correct. Some internal settings have been made automatic, so the Shift+Tools>Options #28 DVRMS buffer size, has been removed.

The audio seek and thumbnail problem introduced in 572 has been fixed.

For those who wanted a lower priority setting for AdDetective, there's a new option on the Ad-Detective common for "Lowest" priority. For Win2K/XP, this sets the priority level two levels done (low sets it one level down). For Vista and W7, we set the priority to "Background thread" mode.
