    Opening a video and simply saving it results in an unwanted fade in and out. Tried the trim in VRD but it said this would render the MP4 unplayable.

    I didn't realise it added a fade to the beginning too. It does indeed. The video I was working with already had a fade in, so I hadn't noticed. I did try to use ffmpeg to trim from the start, but the video didn't start properly. It was a web "Web Optimised" MP4, so perhaps it trimmed a key part...

    Option to remove fade transition from end of video?

    I enabled the fade transition so that I could fade between a cut point in the middle of the video but noticed that the a fade was added at the end of the video too. Is there a way to stop that from happening?
