Audio Issues and Confusion

Help. Not sure if this is a pilot error, program design or a bug. All TS recordings from the CW network are doing this. It seems that there are two audio streams and VRD always picks the spanish one as primary. Note that when I pick the second english audio stream, this all becomes a non-issue. BUT it seems real odd to me that the issue only occurs on one audio channel of the primary steam and not the other channel of the same stream. VRD always blanks out a portion of the audio only on ONE channel leaving the other intact.

Saving in TS format blanks out the one channel only, however saving in MP4 or ipad formats blanks out both channels. The screenshot of the loaded TS file clearly shows the "dead spot" on only one of the channels. The screenshot of the audio in the MP4 file shows all audio being silenced. Just to be complete, I have a screenshot of the original TS file that shows there is audio in the full file that VLC plays with no problems. And to be clear, after loading and trying to play that spot in VRD, there is absolutly no audio. So if it is one channel but not the other, why is VRD totaly silent? And why aren't the default TS audio streams either both silent or both have data? Having a dead spot on just one channel doesn't make sense. Are there settings that I have messed up is something strange going on? Thanks.

What setting do you have for preferred audio on the Tools>Options>General page. If Auto then the code is designed to open the stream with the most channels, in your case Eng (5.1) instead of Spa (2.0). If set to something else, then it probably will default to the TS stream with the lowest audio PID, which in your case is Spa.

I don't understand what you're looking at in the blank areas? Is this something that occurs at cut points?

It IS set to Auto so why is it always selecting Spa? Also those are NOT cut points at all. All I did was load a TS file in VRD and do absolutely NOTHING else! Those blanks is how VRD is interpreting the audio on each channel. VRD is showing blank data in that area on ONE channel when it is using the Spa stream.

I think it should be opening the english so if it's not I'd like to check it out. Do you want to upload all or part of the file to us to check out? Try creating a 500 MB clip using Tools>Trim and see if that has the same stream selection and missing audio. Upload it, send the email and we will check it out.

Just to close this thread out, we found an issue where it's opening the first audio stream in the file and not automatically going to the 5.1. Will be fixed in an upcoming build.
