I'm having the same problem. ViedoRedo has worked fine in Win 8.1 (64) until today. I try to open any file (.TiVo, .mp4) and I get the message 'Unable to open file'. Then when I try to quit VideoReDo, I get the Windows message that 'VideoRedo has stopped working'. This just started today. I have 4.21.3.667 and tried going back to 4.20.7.629. Same problem with both versions.

Same here, cannot open any .wtv files. It worked fine yesterday in Win 7 Pro and I get the same Windows message when closing. The only system change yesterday was an update of Win Defender. I tried uninstalling the current beta and reinstalling the previous version, but that did not resolve the problem.

Same deal here....I was working on a large file over the weekend, got about half my cuts and edits made, saved off what I had worked on and went to finish it today and get the same message...Cant open File...

Looking in the log I get "File open problem 5."

Very odd why something that worked a few days ago, now wont load...and I did no updating of the software...

Windows 7-Ultimate/64 bit

I checked the log as well. 2013-10-30 15:02:54 File open problem 5.

I sent my entire log file to support@videoredo.com and referenced this forum thread.

A license issue would seem a reasonable thing to suspect.

As a follow up to my previous message, here is the log of trying to open the file, and the crash info for when I attempted to close the program AFTER getting the Can not open file error:

Same here. I have Windows 7 and XP. Same problem on both machines that you guys are having today. I did a system restore back to this past weekend when it worked...no luck.

So it has to be a license issue...or thereabouts.

I'm having the same problem. ViedoRedo has worked fine in Win 7 (64) yesterday. I tried to open a (.TiVo, .mpg)file and I get the message 'Unable to open file'. Then when I try to quit VideoReDo, I get the Windows message that 'VideoRedo has stopped working'. This just started today. I have (VideoReDo TVSuite Version H264 Build 4.21-3-667a) and I tried the beta version (VideoReDo TVSuite Beta Build 4.21.3.670). Un-installed and re-installed was no help. Files work fine in other programs.

Same problem here.

Windows XP machine, problem affects TV Suite V4 but not good old fashioned Video Redo Plus.

No longer certain of the exact sequence of events, but I have found an mkv file that I created 24 hours ago with previous version. Problem seemed to arise after installing VRDTVSH264-4-21-3-670d.exe. Since then I have:

* Rebooted
* Installed earlier version VRDTVSH264-4-21-3-667a.exe over the top of .670d
* Uninstalled completely, and reinstalled both 667a and 670d
* Used Windows Restore to take me back a few days

None of these actions have created any improvement. Log files show "File open problem 5". After clicking on error window, and closing TV Suite, Windows reports its own error that it wants to report to Microsoft.
