DanR has passed away

Oh no,
I just randomly popped into the forum to see if anything was new regarding activation, and my hope to be able to use this software on future new workstations, and then I found this thread.
That's a real shame. Sorry to hear that. I've been using VideoRedo since... I'm not even sure, 2007?

RIP DanR, and best of luck to Dan203 with his new job.

I really hope a method can be found for paying customers to continue using this software.
I don't recall if V5 had the same activation system? Maybe I still have a V5 installer around here somewhere... though I probably deleted it after V6 came out.
Hopefully DanR's widow will at least allow us to have an offline activator, or a final .exe installer with that requirement removed, if Dan203 would still be happy to implement it.

I'm just waiting for the 13900K and RTX4080 to release, and then build a system sometime around that, and can then hopefully install VideoRedo onto that, at least.

Yes, I've just found my old V5 key. I did upgrade this to V6, so hopefully the V5 still works if no activation required.
At the very least it would be nice to keep that going, in memory of the two Dan's. This really is such a great piece of software and I came to take it for granted in the end, I just assumed I'd always be able to use it. I do hate online DRM!

Many thanks and RIP to DanR, and thanks and very best wishes to Dan203.

V5 has activation. V4 does not.

My deepest condolences Dan203, to you and the family of Dan Rosen. Most of us have enjoyed and appreciated the work and dedication to this great piece of software (tvsuite is what I use) and it's a sad day to think it might not be continuing.
Thank you for all your work and God Bless.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. That must be difficult losing a friend and a partner in work, first and foremost. My sincere condolences to Dan H.

Wonderful work you two did together.

As a passive user of VideoRedo (v5 and v6), I had been out of the loop on the passing of the owner of the enterprise. Being in the same age bracket, I can certainly relate to
how fleeting our time on this earth is.

Having 'tried' numerous other video editors for the Windows and Linux platforms, I have found that VideoReDo to be the best all around application for those of us with mid level PC's cleaning up OTA recordings. I would certainly miss the software should it completely disappear. Belated thanks to DanR and his family for all their support. And Dan203, we appreciate your continued interest as well.

My condolences to DanR's family. I have not had any contact with VRD support for some time as things have been going well. However, I just happened in to check out if there were any changes and saw the sad news.
I sincerely hope the software support and development can still continue as we all know it IS the best in the world. Thank you Dan203 for all your help over the many years I have been using VRD. I will certainly be
lost without the program when it finally goes wrong. It has been like one of my family.

I am very sad that Dan has died. I have written privately for years often with him from Germany. Also in Coron times. He was also very afraid to get infected, already because of his heart disease. I hope that he did not die of corona?

My condolences especially to his wife, who was also very afraid of it.

I hope that at least the current state of VideoRedo will be preserved. Maybe like elsewhere with a lifetime license.

He did not get covid. He was diagnosed with lymphoma May. His health declined very quickly and he passed away in early September. Because of his quick decline and prolonged hospitalization we never got the chance to discuss the company or it's future. His wife was not involved with the business at all so she knew even less about it than I did.

Thanks Dan203 for the info. Very sad about the whole thing. Non Hodgkin lymphoma is unfortunately very malignant and often the progression is very fast. He is more worried about his bypasses getting clogged again or his eye surgery not going well and then this shit happens.

But I still think it would have been in Dan's interest to keep the VideoReDo project alive. I, like perhaps others, have a Master Key valid until 2099 for all functions for both Pro versions. It would be a shame to lose that.

I have already seen twice how very good stand-alone projects disappeared forever after the death of the person with all the info. Because no precaution was taken.

I hope that does not happen here.

It has happened here. Dan did not take any precautions to loop me into the business so his passing is the end of VideoReDo.

It's possible (although unlikely) that his wife could sell the company to someone who keeps it going, but I won't be involved. I have a new job and I've moved on.

I just heard of Dan's passing today. I was contacting Video Redo to purchase V6.

Dan and his family are in my prayers.
