Distortion or short video hanging at I frame as start of second cutting

On nearly every recording there is a problem with cutting out advertisements, This happens with every version of V6.

This makes problems at the scene change:
scene1: I frame to a frame before I frame
advertisement
scene2: I frame to end of file

At the moment i use this workaround to force a recode at the cut point, but there is one frame lost at scene change:
scene1: I frame to a frame before I frame
advertisement
scene2: one frame after I Frame to end of file

Are you using build 833? If not, please update and confirm that the problem remains.

Otherwise, send the log file to us at support and we will check it out. You can find the log file from our help menu. Also, don't delete the original, un-edited file in case we need a copy to duplicate the problem.

Now i have a file with this problem. The video is hanging for a short time at the cut point (16:05 in output file).
scene 1: 14:18.17 - 30:23.22
scene 2: 38:51.07 (I Frame) - 1:10.:37.07
The only way to avoid this problem is to change the start of scene 2 to 38:51.08.

Hello,
this problem has been discussed several times. The actual versions von VRD6 are much better than previous versions. But some ts-files can be very "tricky", so that the detection of dependencies between frames (especially around I-frames) seems to be not so easy. Ts-streams can have I-frames that don't behave like IDR-frames. I also get sometimes "tricky" files, where it is not possible to make a smooth cut at I-frames. In this very rarely cases, I use to make a first cut 1-4 frames before the I-frame, so that a recode is forced (I-frames included). After that I make another cut in round two, where I can cut at the needed frame, that isn't any longer an I-frame. This workes on nearly every file, that doesn't get smooth cuts directly on I-frames.
I didn't get any rules up to now, when this happens, but It seems like files with high compressed content or high bitrates have this problem more often. But this is only a vague assumption.

Some ts-files have a different problem with cuts on I-frames. I found out, that the audio format changes sometimes with the beginning and the ending of advertisements. Ads begin and end usually on I-frames. Some times you can see, that AC3 ends with the beginning of the advertisement and begins with the start of the next part of the film. But the restart of the needed audio sometimes hangs one frame. If you cut such a file at the I-frames you will get (and see in VRD) a file with missing audio on one frame. This triggers programs like VLC player to hang for a short time. In this cases you will have to make the cut one frame after the I-frame.

Hello Winnewup, yout method is a little more work, but there are no frames lost. I will try this the next time.
Sometimes i even see a change from AC3 2.0 to 5.1 in the middle of a frame and sometimes there are some frames with a wrong audio type at the start of a scene.
In such cases i start one ore more frames after the I frame.

There is another little problem: if you make 2 scenes with cutting out a single frame and save this as a project file, the 2 scenes are merged to one if this project file is loaded again. It works if there are at least 2 frames between the scenes.

With vlc 3.011 and mpc-hc 1.9.16, 64 Bit there is this picture shown from 16:03 to 16:09. On my Oppo 203 is a really bad flickering distortion around 16:05.
If i play the cutted file in Videoredo then there is no hang but at 16:10 this picture is shown for a very short time.
I use the newest video driver from Intel for my system.

Same is problem with me. I just found your workaround and I am happy its working for me too. Great. I was struggling with this problem since 6 months.

Have the sample, not sure why it wasn't looked at before. Can you give me the cut points that cause the problem and/or send me a vprj file?
