DVD Creation / Batch Manager / If Aspect changes in a TS Stream Full Recode is forced

DVD Creation / Batch Manager / If Aspect changes a Full Recode is always forced by VReDo.

1. Usual DVBS Stream Mpg2 720x576

I open it and have a 4:3 pre Content ( A Tv Show before the Movie i want ) while the one i want to use for the DVD has 16:9 content.
Preview Display is shown in 4:3 alltime here having the TV Series which has 4:3 before.

I do mark the first I Frame of the 16:9 Movie and the End of the TV Movie & click on

> Create DVD > "Acccept non compilant " is sure activated > Double Layer also ( doesnt needs that size is under that ) .

There it shows Aspect 4:3 which is wrong because of the Pre Show which had 4:3 Aspect so i

> Change Output Options > Aspect Ratio > 16:9 and ok

If i now put this to the batch manager or directly create the DVD right now it
wants to FULL Reencode the DVD instead of using Fast Frame as usual.
There is no Menu attached , simple Movie with chapters each 10 minutes.

The overall Prozess is showing like 1:20 h to REEENCODE then and it does not continue quick as usual.
It also shows Full RECODE in the Batch or DVD Creation Prozess.

This does not happen if i output the wanted content to a single Mpg2 16:9 File ( Also changed Aspect from 4:3 to 16:9 before ) . There i get Fast Frame Copy and the Video is done in superspeed.

If i then use this Mpg2 to create a DVD again it works perfect with Batch as usual DVD Creation.
I reinstalled VReDo several times cleaned regisrty etc always same Situation once a Movie / Sow is having 4:3 pre Content.

Also noticed if i trim a short clip, including the 4:3 and the 16:9 in the first TS File, it does also not Force a Full Reencode.
I was planning in uploading you a Sample.
But this is ueseless..

This is only happening if i use a Combined TS Set of content which has 4:3 and 16:9 in the first TS.

Ill attach you two logs , first is the huge one i aborted after a while...2nd is the Sample one trimmed.

Do me a favor... Output the complete file, without edits, to a single file then open that, make your edits, and save to DVD. Does it still want to recode?

My thinking is that this might be related to the VLST file created when you combine multiple files. This will confirm or disprove that theory.

Looking at the log it could be the header bitrate. Try running the file through Quick Stream Fix, but click the Options button and set the header bitrate to 6000.

I thought I changed it so the DVD dialog uses the estimated bitrate rather then the header, but I might be wrong. The DVD output is the only place in the code which does not use the new profile logic, so I sometimes get confused on what it's doing vs. what everything else does.

Had time today to test this and this does not fix the Issue

After having done the Streamfix with 6000 Kbits as mentioned the Situations is same as before.

Size 4.428 GB
Duration 01:45:03.06
Mux type TS Stream
TS mux rate 6.575 Mbps

Log then offers

Are you making edits? Because it could be the file size. 4.428GB is actually 4754528800 bytes and a DVD only holds 4700000000 bytes, not only that but we apply a bit of slush so in reality if the projected output file size is greater then about 4300000000 bytes it will be recoded.

Try setting the output DVD type to double layer, does it still force a recode?

One more thing you might want to check. Open the Output Options section and make sure you don't have any of the tabs set to "remember these settings". If you have remembered cropping or video bitrate settings then it will force a recode regardless of the source video.

Hej Dan i do not do any edits simple add start and end marker then click DVD.
Its same with DVD9 which is is my default setup.

It doesnt even works if the file has 100 MB/less size. Once a 4:3 Content is before a 16:9 content this happens. And its only in DVD Output.
I do not even use any of the pre 4:3 content , not one frame of it.

I really think its best i trim and upload a sample.

I think DanR remembered what's going on here. You can't mix 4:3 and 16:9 on a single DVD. Our DVD authoring only supports a single VTS and each VTS can only support one aspect ratio, so when you mix aspects we force a recode with the pillar box option set so that both files end up being the same aspect.

If you want to mix the aspect ratios and adjust them using your TV you'll have to run one of the files through QSF and change it's aspect to match the other file.

I do not mix Aspect Ratios.

I have aTS File which has 4:3 Content and then afterwards comes the 16:9 Movie / Show i want to Save to a DVD. So if i simply Set markers Start and End of my wanted 16:9 Content
i get these Problems.

Look i simply record 10 minutes pre ( Timer) before my Shows do start. So there is sure always another show before my wanted recordings and sometimes it is a 4:3 Airing followed by my 16:9 Main movie or whatever i want to record and save later.

I do NOT keep any 4:3 Content of the Soap Operas or whatever before my wanted Content.

Neither i keep a 4:3 Frame of the unwanted before Airings.

Ok I think I'm going to need a sample then so I can see what's going on. Can you use Trim & Copy to grab me a small chunk of the file that reproduces this problem and upload it to our FTP?
