Editing Output Profile - Still having issues with audio settings

Hi, long time since I last posted here - is it still Dan and Dan running this thing . . . ?

Anyway, noticed that an existing saved profile had the wrong audio bit rate saved - should have been 224kbps but was saved as 384kbps. Went into the 'Manage Output Profiles..." menu option, selected my saved profile and clicked on the edit button, changed the bit rate setting back to 224kbps, clicked on the 'OK' button then on the 'Save' button on the next dialog box . . . unfortunately the profile is still showing 384kbps whenever I try to use it. Also, in the profile editor, if you select the 'advanced' radio button for the audio settings and try changing the bit rate there, then it appears that you lose all your audio settings in favour of the default 'Automatic' in the 'audio codec' drop-down box.

It's a relatively minor annoyance, but it does mean that I can't trust the profiles and so I have to check everything each time I save . . .

Am currently running TVSuite v6.62.2.827 - Dec 11 2020 (download file is VRDTVS-6-62-2-827a.exe) on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Many thanks in advance.

Keep up the good work, stay safe, and I hope you all (and all the users here) have a very Merry Christmas! Let's hope 2021 is a MAJOR improvement over 2020!

Can you please export the profile and post it here? I tried recreating from scratch and am unable to reproduce the issue, so there must be a specific setting in your profile triggering the bug. I need to try it out and see if I can figure out what.

I also have this issue and it's not just version 827, I had it in 826 too. It still changes it after re-saving it in Manage Profiles. Attached profiles are both set to 192kbps but always shows 384kbps so I have to keep changing each time manually as mostly in the UK 1080i is always 192kbps stereo. Only live sport, films and major TV productions are in 6 channel DD 384kbps on the BBC, Channels 4 and 5. ITV transmits only in 192kbps stereo even with films.

Hi Dan,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'll try and find one that shows this problem and send it up to you.

Merry Christmas and all that!

Hi again. It seems that it happens when you choose AC3 as your audio codec. Mpeg2, AAC etc all keep the set audio bitrate, but as soon as you select AC3 it defaults to 384kbps. Also, I was a little surprised to see that the max bitrate you can set for AC3 is 384kbps whereas it's 448kbps for AAC and MP3. I'm not in any great rush to use a higher bitrate for my recordings, but . . . you never know . . . ?

Hi Dan, is there any update on this as I have to keep changing the bit rate of AC3 audio from 384kbps to 192kbps every time despite it being set in the profiles to 192kbps in both my Mpeg2 and M2TS profiles as above in #3

I'm looking into the issue. But from what I can tell the value saves to the profile XML, so as long as you don’t edit the profile you shouldn't need to change it every time. The value only changes when you open the dialog to edit the profile.

The problem is that I'm usually editing the profile for maybe aspect ratio to 4 x 3 and the audio bit rate shows 384 but I check without editing it first and if that's the case will create a further profile.

Hello,
is it possible, that this problem has something to do with the audio-stream problem that I am in contact with DanH? At the end of December I got a new testversion (827c), but I can't get it to work with my existing licence. I told him (email), but so far I didn't get an answer.

Regards
Frank

This will be fixed in the next release. It was just an error in the rules applied to the edit dialog.
