File won't open, VRD goes into "Not responding" mode

Hello,

1st post here and I have had the top level VRD for about 2 months now. I really enjoy how easily it edits as well as joins files.

I am a big sports fan and I have a problem in that VRD will not open my Windows media center recording I made of Detroit /Baltimore Game 3 ALDS from Sunday.
The program goes into a "not responding" mode and then I have to manually close it down from the task manager. It is only happening with this file, as other games from the series as well as college football games from last weekend have always opened perfectly. I am using Home Run Prime to record the events on my computer.

I have tried rebooting my computer and that has not solved the issue. I can actually "PLAY" the file via windows media center so I know that it is all there.

a couple of notes

1) The file is very large, as I was away from my place and I set the recording for 7 hours (extra innings possibility) - could it be that the file is just too BIG for VRD to handle? , if so, any idea how to chop off the last 3+ hours of the file so it's a more manageable size?

2) I also recorded this on my Xfinity X1 DVR (as a backup) and unfortunately, at about the 2:30 mark of the broadcast, there is a hiccup in the recording and the remaining part of the broadcast is lost to me, otherwise I would just use that and send it to my computer via the Hauppauge colossus that I have. I am wondering if this hiccup is what is causing the VRD issue.
I do now that on WMC I can scroll right past this point and everything is OK, on my DVR it kicks me off and takes me to live programming.

One possible work around would be for me to play this file on WMC and send it to the colossus input (maybe this can work)
but I would much prefer that the existing file be able to be opened in VRD.

Following is the response:
VideoReDo is not limited by file size. It does have a maximum time length of about 24 hours.

Since it is only the 1 file causing an issue it might be corrupt.

Here are a couple of things to try:
1. Try using "Enable Filters" in QuickStream Fix.

Process the file through QuickStream Fix first, then load the fixed file for editing. Tools>QuickStream Fix

Check Enable Filters in QuickStream Fix and select the resolution you desire to output. If multiple resolutions are not listed, increase the number of samples. Usually a number like 128 is sufficient.

2. If it is a WTV file, try to right click on the file and select convert. Then process the file through QuickStream Fix.

Let me reply that I am NOT able to get VideoReDo to open at all. My research indicates that quickstream fix is a program WITHIN VRD, so that doesn't appear to be an viable answer for me.

Is it possible to obtain this "quickstream fix" outside of the VideoReDo program?
I just find it amazing that this one particular file is causing your entire program to basically crash (become non-responsive)

When I get home tonight I will try the right click option as the files are recorded as WTV files

Have you tried Quick Stream fix or not?
It's on the Tools Menu.
You do not need to open the file first.

so I open VRD, select the tools-> quickstream, then pick the file?
I am still unclear as to how I do this on my suspect file.

Correct, and you also need to pick a name for the fixed output file from Quick Stream Fix.

The quickstream fix did not work last night, my file was 7 hours long and it only processed the first 3 hours, not enough to get the entire game in. I think it was getting hung up on whatever corruption was in the file around that time mark.

That being said, the right click and convert to dvr-ms DID work and from there I could upload, edit and author burn (I use multiAVCHD)

I am still a newbie and do not exactly know what all these file types are, but without your assistance I would have been out of luck completely
