Graphics Interface ver 4 vs ver 6

Is there anyway to get back the nice smooth buttons and elegant GUI look that Version 4 had ?
Verson 6 buttons look "clunky".

Not that I know of.

You can change lots of colors with Tools>"UI Style Editor".

No. The v4 design was basically a copy of Vista Windows Media Player, it no longer fits with modern design aesthetics. Plus every button was basically a bespoke bitmap, so they couldn't be sized to fit localized text.

As jmc mentioned you can play with the colors and stuff in the style editor, but there is no way to get the exact look that v4 has.

Also, just for flavour ... I'd prefer they concentrate dev resources on enhanced/new functionality ;)
UI plays a big part in new functionality. Pretty much every new feature we add requires a dialog or control to expose that feature to the user. So no matter what we're always working on the UI.

OK, yes it does.

Although ... square buttons vs round buttons for notionally the same underlying "actions" - perhaps some functionality may be in the eye of the beholder :)
I do understand such things are important to some people, even if in the old IT shop days such stuff used to be viewed as "flash and bubble" and "form over function".
Personally, I'd prefer new stuff that gives new/changed outcomes, or even a 64 bit version :)
Oh well, as long as people are happy.

Thank you, Dan. I just made the jump from v4 to v6 and I was wondering the same. (I like the Gold Brush look, and the Sel Start / Sel End labels (txt vs graphic).) Super excited to be VRD'ing again after a long break!!

I rather enjoy the look of the newer interface. It is sleek, modern and fits right in with the newer Windows-style design elements. Personally, I always thought the previous version was very Windows 98 looking. :p

It was basically cloned from WMP in Vista, so it was more 2007. :)

v5 used a flat UI inspired by Windows 8 and v6 is more inspired by Windows 10 with subtle shading and gradients. We try to keep up with current trends, but development takes time so sometimes we're a little behind the curve. Plus there are some technical limitations with the framework we use, so we can't get too crazy.
