Upgrade Notice
Before updating HandBrake, please make sure there are no pending encodes in the queue, and be sure to make a backup of any custom presets and app preferences you have, as they may not be compatible with newer versions.
Windows users, please make sure to install Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime version 6.0.x. Read carefully: you need the DESKTOP runtime. You must install .NET 6 even if you have installed .NET 7.

Hi jmc, really useful info. I know you had to do similar with 1.4 too. I've got windowsdesktop-runtime-6.0.10-win-x64 installed.

I don't know if you're finding that when you get the yellow audio line for 5.1 Dolby Digital and then save it, only stereo shows on MediaInfo. I'm reluctant to open a new thread because there's a lot of spam appearing on this forum now.

I hope Dan can maybe sort it if he gets a chance.

I have occasionally encountered instances of MediaInfo reporting stereo on a file I had down as 5.1. Files that I edit frequently have a “stutter” as the broadcast transitions from stereo to 5.1 so I try to make the start point of the edited file to when it has stabilised. I also wonder how MediaInfo counts the tracks, from the file header or a number of frames at the start of the file.
The only test I can think of is to open the output file in VR and see what is the colour of the audio line. Does VR decide the audio count from the first few frames and apply it to the entire file, or will it switch back and forth as appropriate? Of course, you can “force” matters by editing the profile to change the audio to 5.1 regardless.
