How to get Ad Detective to find black frames?

Hi, I'm using VideoRedo V5 and V6 Pro and I don't use Ad Detective to cut commercials as I find it to be inaccurate. However it IS useful for finding black frames for when there's a glitch in a show due to a broadcasting glitch. There's several completely black sections in my video that I found myself which are normal black frames before/after commercial breaks. Ad detective only found 2 of them. A while ago in the past I selected 3 black frames and cut them and I then went into ad-detective parameters and I clicked on "Train using current selection". I then ran an ad-detective scan and it found all the black frames. However today it's not working and only found 2 areas with black frames.

How do I get it to do what I want?

Are you using the interactive version or the background version of AdDetective?

Tools>Options>Advanced Features has a check box. The advantage of non-interactive scanning is that it can process audio in addition to video, but since it runs like a file save operation you can't see it detecting and adding scene and cut markers dynamically.

I don't see the Advanced Features option under Tools > Options in V5 Pro or V6 Pro.

I was doing non-interactive scanning. Any idea how to do want I mentioned in my 1st post?

My mistake, It's on the Ad-Detective parameters "Common parameters" page. "Use interactive Ad-Detective"

Might be easier to figure out if you send us a sample of your video.

OK I've got a sample ready that I did an ad-scan on and it didn't find the black frames. Can you give me your FTP info please.

The issue is most likely that the log bug in the upper right is messing up ad-detective. To fix that:

1. Open the video
2. Click on Ad-detective > Set ad-detective parameters.
3. Click on the video image to bring up an enlarged window.
4. Using the mouse, drag the highlight rectangle to exclude the log in the upper right.

For me the settings of:

Left: 10, Top: 15, Right 10: Bottom 14 worked fine.
