Two things...
What does "Intelligent Recode" "Max resolution" do?

It does not change a 480 dvd.mpg to x264.720p (have to "force recode")

If I save an "Intelligent Recode" profile to "forced Recode" it wipes "Bitrate Presets" to default values when I change it back to "Intelligent Recode".

That's because it's a "max resolution". It'll only recode if the input video exceeds the max resolution.
