I am trying to join 3 small mpeg files that were edited in VDR many years ago in mp4. The video is there but not the sound. Any solutions for this?

Is it just VRD with no sound or also VLC, MPClassic etc.
What are the file specs?

Are you sure the audio is gone and it's not just a playback issue? If you open the combined video in VideoReDo is the audio gone?

Not all players like MP2 audio in an MP4 file. You may need to recode to H.264 video with AAC audio for compatibility.

Thanks for getting back to me, Dan.

Yes - there is no audio in the combined video when played through the Windows 10 Dell computer Movie program but it does have audio when played back in VRD.

Thanks Dan. Downloaded the Codec Pack but that didn't work either. These Mpegs are from 2004 could be why.

Did you try VLC?

Windows Media Player is super finicky. There is suppose to be this priority system where the codecs on your system report a value representing how likely they are to be able to read/decode a specific format. But developers got lazy and just started marking everything as the maximum value. So Windows just randomly chooses a one based one an obscure ID used when installing the filter.

So in your case it's likely not working because something on your system installed a filter which is taking priority but isn’t actually able to decode the file. The pack didn’t work because that other broken filter still has priority.

Windows Media Player really is an awful player.
