I have an audio issue, specifically that there is no sound on playback, when I convert files recorded in PS format using Nebula DigiTV 3.5, to TS format for playback on my Toppy 7100 PVR.

I am using Videoredo plus to convert a PS file. The input file has the following specs.

File Type: PS - MPEG2
Encoding: MPEG 2
Video stream Id: xE0
Encoding Dimensions: 1920 x 1080
Display Size: 1920 x 1080
Aspect Ratio: 16/9
Frame Rate: 25.00 FPS
Bit Rate: 90.000 Mbps
VBV_Buffer: 768 KB
Profile: Main/High
Progressive: Prog or Int
Chroma: 4:2:0
Audio Format: 5.1
Audio Stream Id: Raw PS1
Audio Bit Rate: 448 Kbps
Audio Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz

I saved this file using Save as Type: Transport Stream. The saved file had the following specs;

File Type: TS Stream
Encoding: MPEG 2
Video stream Id: 4096 (x1000)
Encoding Dimensions: 1920 x 1080
Display Size: 1920 x 1080
Aspect Ratio: 16/9
Frame Rate: 25.00 FPS
Bit Rate: 90.000 Mbps
VBV_Buffer: 768 KB
Profile: Main/High
Progressive: Prog or Int
Chroma: 4:2:0
Audio Format: 5.1
Audio Stream Id: AC3: 4097 (x1001)
Audio Bit Rate: 448 Kbps
Audio Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz

I used the Toppy Filemaker to create the info and nav files, but when I play the file back on the Toppfield there is no sound. Howevere when I open the TS file using VideoRedo I have sound. Also, when I open the file using DigiTV, the audio settings are empty.

I tried using the VideoRedo Output File Options and changing the Audio properties to MPEG, which gives me sound but unfortunately I lose the original 5.1 audio format and instead get 2 channel audio.

I have checked other programs recorded by the Toppy that have AC3 5.1audio, using VideoRedo as below;

File Type: TS Stream
Encoding: MPEG 2
Video stream Id: 577 (x241)
Encoding Dimensions: 1920 x 1080
Display Size: 1920 x 1080
Aspect Ratio: 16/9
Frame Rate: 25.00 FPS
Bit Rate: 14.500 Mbps
VBV_Buffer: 1188 KB
Profile: Main/High
Progressive: Prog or Int
Chroma: 4:2:0
Audio Format: 5.1
Audio Stream Id: AC3: 579 (x243)
Audio Bit Rate: 384 Kbps
Audio Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz

Any ideas why the audio is a problem for the Toppy for files coverted to TS by VideoRedo?

You might try saving the files with MPEG audio.

Click on the Options button in the file save dialog box.

Can teh device handle AC3?

If it can, do you have it enabled as well as a digital audio connection on the device?

Yep, the program info I listed at the bottom of my original post was from a program I had recorded on the Topfield.

Audio Format: 5.1
Audio Stream Id: AC3: 4097 (x1001)
Audio Bit Rate: 448 Kbps
Audio Sampling Rate: 48000 Hz

This plays back as dolby digital through my amplifier without any problems.

Try changing the PIDs to match the original Topfield sample. Tools>Options>Transport Stream
