Problem with TVSuite V.6 and Vegas Pro V.18

Hello,

I have a very frustrating problem. I have a finished master file that opens without issue in both Vegas V.13 and V.18 I needed to make a minor change in one section and did not want to render the entire project again, so I just rendered the changed section and then I used VidoReDo to insert the small change. VideReDo inserted the change without re-rendering anything and the resultant file will open without issue in all my media players, smart tv, and Vegas V.13. If I open the file in V.18 it crashes even without putting the video in the timeline. In the timeline If I attempt to play the video it will not play and it looks like the frame counter freezes on 1 and cannot seek or keep up with the playing video. It will attempt to play for a few seconds and then crashes the program.

As I said, the original file (before putting in the insert) plays fine in V.18. If I cut out a section of that video with VideReDo the cut section also plays fine. However, the same experiment using the video with the insert (and this is a cut taken before the insert) will not play in V.18. I find this incredibly odd. On the one hand VideReDo is able to work properly with the original file, but on the other, not the modified file. I even tried demuxing the file, and remuxing with mkvtoolnix, then converting back to mp4 using avidemux. Still will not open in Vegas V.18, but fine in V.13 and all players.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Hello,
maybe you rendered the small section not exactly like the original. If I take a look at the media info, I find two different format profiles: High@L4.2 and Main@L4. This "lttle" change inside a video can trigger some programs to display pixelation at the cutpoint or even to crash. Vegas will analyse the whole file when you open it; maybe it detects the change and cannot handle it.
You can find the profile setting in the advanced section in the output dialog of VRD.

The joiner of VRD doesn't detect the different format profiles ... so the files with different profile will join without a recoding ... this is one of the few bugs left in VRD,

I had this problem some time ago with VLC that crashed at cutpoint. Dan helped me find the error.

Regards
Frank

Did you run your files through Quickstream Fix first? I use VRD6 with Vegas Pro 18 several times each week, and issues are rare, unless there are stream errors that must be fixed first with Quickstream Fix.

I believe that Dan has mentioned that VRD may not use EVERY single command line option that another program has used.
And so the possible problems with some other program trying to work with the new file.
