Putting text on top of video

I'm aware of the titling feature in VideoReDo and have used it several times. But, I'm interested in putting text actually on top of the video as it plays. Is there a way to do this in VideoReDo? The titling option doesn't do what I want so I need another way. If VideoReDo won't do it, does anybody know a program easy to learn that will do this. I want to be able to drop the text onto the video at random locations throughout the entire playback. thanks.

Can't do it in VRD.

Something to consider: Instead of placing text into the video which would involve reencoding, perhap one of the subtitle creation programs could also accomplish your goal.

That would be fine if there is a program out there that gives you the ability to decide where on the screen the subtitles display. I re-encode my videos anyway, so that isn't an issue. Do you have a suggestion for a good subtitle program that would be simple to learn and use? Thanks.

It's been many years since I played with them. They were freebies and somewhat complex.

I begin with a .TS file and encode to an MP4. I'm looking for a simple solution to overlay text (watermark if you will) on top of the video at random points throughout the video. The video is usually around 2 1/2 hours long. I would like something that would allow me to do this but only have to encode the file once.

Well, VMS should be able to handle your .ts files and convert them. However, if they're coming from your PVR, then they could contain enough time code errors that it (or any NLE) can't handle without QSF'ing first. QSF in VRD then recode in an NLE.

How can I mute the audio in a saved edited file? I've adjusted audio before but something has changed. I'm using TVsuite 4 Rel 646a. I open the Tools>Adjust Audio and move the volume slider all the way to the left (-96 dB) and then click Close. The audio graph indicates that the audio is gone for the entire edit session but when I Save it and re-load the "edited" file, the audio is right back! What am I doing wrong?

Does your file have multiple audio streams? The interactive audio adjustment only effects the selected audio stream. So if you have multiple audio streams you could be hearing the audio from the secondary stream when you reload the file. To completely get rid of the audio do what you're doing, but in the Save dialog click Options then uncheck the one that says "Allow multiple audio streams".
