Selecting audio stream with most channels by default

Is it possible to have VRD select the audio stream with the most channels by default? I am finding that various shows are recording with only 1 channel as the first audio track and the 2 channel or 5.1 channel tracks are being recorded as a later track so by default my mpeg-2 output files have no audio. It would be nice of I could have VRD automatically select the audio stream with the most channels.

Have you tried setting the audio preference to AC3 or AAC, on the Tools>Options>General page? That may accomplish what you want.

There are typically multiple streams of the same type, ie the show Blindspot has 2 streams, both AC3, one is 2 channel and one is 5.1.

I checked the code and if you set a preferred audio codec, e.g. AC3, it's supposed to pick the one with the most channels as the primary stream. Can you open the file and click on Tools>Program Info and paste that information here?

I dont see a Program Info under Tools. Im using version 5.1.2.737 dated October 2nd.

I also set AC3 as the Preferred Audio then opened up the file that has AC3 and it kept the 2 channel audio stream selected and didnt select the 5.1 channel stream.

Also what type of file is it? MKV and WTV files can both have specific audio streams flagged as the default at the container level. We honor that when it's present.

If you are using the main interface, you can get a visible indication of 5.1 streams by changing the colour of the audio wave in the thumbnails. I use white for 5.1, and red for 2.0 It is very easy then to ensure I pick the right one.

As mentioned above WTV files can have a flag in the container indicating a default stream. If they do we honor that regardless of your settings.

How do I go about configuring that? I dont see an option for that.

It's in View->Set thumbnail parmeters.

By default 2ch is blue and 5.1ch is yellow.
