I've noticed a small glitch. If TVAP is shutdown as part of a system restart, it reprocesses for some or all of the programs it had done since it was previously started.
1. Start processing with TVAP. My default processing is "Do QSF" with a mp4 output profile.
2. Transfer a program from TiVo.
3. TVAP completes processing of the file.
4. Reboot without doing a "Stop Processing", e.g. an automatic reboot after Windows Update applies fixes.
5. Start processing with TVAP. It reprocesses the program from (2).
I'm 99% sure that it multiple programs are transferred in (2), TVAP will reprocess all the files but I have not had time to test all the scenarios yet.
It doesn't happen if I stop processing in TVAP before the reboot.

TVAP's design never envisioned gracefully handling such program interruptions. How much of a problem does this pose for you?
I would not be sure it will do this for multiple files -- can you verify that to 100% certainty?
Does just stopping processing prevent the problem, or do you also have to terminate TVAP? Also by stopping, do you mean Stop Processing or Stop After VRD ?
This can probably be improved but I need to understand the behavior better. Of course a file that is interrupted part way through a VRD process always will have to redo that process on restart.

It must be a Win7 issue. I have XP and if I try to restart the PC without first doing a Stop Processing in TVAP, the restart fails to complete. I must open TVAP and do a Stop Processing. After the PC comes back up and TVAP launches, it stays were it left off (no reprocessing.)
It would be nice to be able to restart the PC and have TVAP close automatically without a manual stop processing. Not a big deal though.

Added: Saves current configuration and file processing status if ended due to system shutdown or restart, and adds log entry: “Program ended because of system shutdown or restart”.
This should prevent having to manually stop processing on restart for XP and should prevent repeating past VRD processing for Win7 systems after restart.

To dlflannery or anyone more techy than I (hmmm that qualifys most anyone)
I have one question when converting a TIVO file...
I would prefer to convert from tivo to dvr-ms (as I use WMC to play to my various tv's) but converting to mpg works. When I convert to dvr-ms the video quality is great how ever the audio gets lost. When playing the dvr-ms to my HDTV using WMC (send thru HDMI out) the audio wont play. This is unique to converted dvr-ms files only. All other file formats (avi, mpg, etc) all play video and audio great.
Perhaps I am missing something in the config of the audio.
If I have not totally confuzzld you I would welcome any direction you can point me.

It is best not to double-post the same problem, i.e., in both the VAP and TVAP threads. This is true on all forums as it leads to confusion among those trying to respond.
I don't know what the problem would be. What version and build number of VideoReDo are you using?
Load a TiVo file, hit Ctrl-L to get file info, click button to put it in the clipboard then paste the info in a post here.
Do the same thing with a DVRMS file that you have converted.
If you have AC3 audio, see item 8 on this list.

I just bought TVS4 and plan to output to .m4v from now on so naturally I'm interested in having the metadata added. I looked through pages 16ish to 18ish to see if there is a listing of all the metadata fields that are used from the file extracted out of the .tivo file but don't see it listed.
For example, here is a recent Psych episode:
I know I can edit the file before I review the commercial cut points, but what I'd like to know is what fields are used and what could I possibly add that's missing. I have used MetaX to add metadata before and use it to add the Viideo Art file. It just would be nice to add what I can before hand.

There is no such listing. Obviously there is no one-to-one mapping between TiVo and mp4 metadata, so the code has to have logic that tries to make the best compromise. As a general statement, many of the TiVo items have no place to go in mp4 land -- and there are many .mp4 meta items that are not available from the TiVo data.
How about a little experiment to answer your question? Create the .m4v file and use either mediaInfo ("text" view) and/or AtomicParsley to compare the pyTiVo and mp4 metadata? If this doesn't satisfy, I will see what I can do in the way of an explanation of the code.
I attempted to read through this thread (and the thread at the other forum) and could not find a solution to my problem. I keep randomly experiencing a error message after the ad scan (with com skip) is completed. I receive an error stating TVAP could not open videoredo for playback (or something to that effect). The log indicates there was an error opening up the videoredo project file.
I am running windows 7 ultimate x64 and TVS4 build 600. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Given so little data, I could only guess that ComSkip just isn't producing a valid VRD project file (.vprj). What happens if you use VRD AdScan instead of ComSkip? Please furnish information on the type of input file, output format, and process flow. Are you doing QSF before ad scan? Are you doing autocuts after ad scans?
Note if you are using network drives as your TVAP folders, that can cause occasional problems. In that case try making all the folders local drives.

I will soon be discontinuing upgrading of TVAP because VAP (link in signature) does everything that TVAP does. I encourage TVAP users to switch to VAP and let me know if there is anything it doesn't do that TVAP does do.

I apologize for the lack of info.
I am attempting to rerun TVAP using AdScan instead of ComSkip. I will report my results when completed. The one concern I have is the problem doesn't occur each time. I was able to process 3 files then the error repeatedly occurs from that point forward.
I am also able to manually open up TVS4 with the project file created by ComSkip.

Try repeating the same file several times (use the "Reset" check box). Can it both succeed and fail on the same input file? Are you using network drives?
I used your earlier suggestion of running the AdScan w/o ComSkip and I am no longer receiving the error. It appears that ComSkip is the culprit of the "cannot open videoredo for playback" error. Any suggestions on how to address the ComSkip issue?

But when this error occurs you can load the .vprj file created by Comskip into VRD? Is the .vprj file in the TiVo Transfers or QSF temp folder? Please post a copy of it, or at least the first 10 lines, and let me know what your TiVo Transfer, QSF temp and output folders are. Also, please post the last ten lines of the log file just before such an error. A screen shot when the error occurs would be helpful also.
