Trouble saving Scenes (Goal to split large file into smaller bits)

Hi, boy it this program hard to use! I followed all the advice here (and after nearly 4 hours!)

Click on the menu: Tools>Start Batch Manger and specify your destination directory. Click "Done" to return to the main editing screen.

It is easier to use scene mode in this case.

Select "Scene Mode" and "Queue To Batch Clears Cut List" in Tools>Options>General Parameters)

Select each segment individually and add it to the Batch with Ctrl+B

Select your next segment and add to Batch with Ctrl+B

Continue until you have selected all of your segments then click Tools>Start Batch Manger and press the "Save and Execute" button. Your files will be saved as individual segments.

I can find no "Save and Execute" button. But I choose "Run" and it very slowly appeared to save each of 4 scenes. After each the Status field said "Errors" but no further info. After finishing I found all the files with the full 3 hour lenngth, not the 40 or so min "scenes" I had selected. What did I do wrong ?

No need to do that any more.

Open the file, mark your scenes, and in the save dialog check the "split scenes" option. Each scene will be output as a separate segment. It'll use the file name you select and just append a number to the end of each file to indicate the scene.

Also that guide you're using is old. The batch manager in v6 works very different.

Thanks Dan, success. However the progress bar did not show until the end, after each one had finished.
Instructions were from a Google Search. Help-Contents is the better Guide? (I just found it!).

Yes, the progress bar display weirdness happens and has been reported. Not high on the to do list I fear. Also, I would avoid the split scenes queue to batch option as you do not get a proper report as to the error status of each scene.

I actually didn't realize this was an issue. I just fixed it so it will work in the next release
