I note the domain name "videoredo.net" was renewed in February this year. That shows someone cares enough to pay for that but it will be an annual cost.just hope the activation server keeps running.
This is a terrible way to run a business:
No backup plan if software development stops
No notice to users to let them know what is happening
No plans to address activation issues, or even guide to work around it, just hope the activation server keeps running.
I don't expect any future software development, but I do expect my current software to keep functioning.
I can't believe people want to throw even more money at this situation.
This is the second time it has happened to me, and I doubt I will buy activation based software again.
The last time was mIRC, the developer wanted more money, and just revoked early license keys (with lifetime updates). I literally couldn't use a single version of the software, since they added activation....the developer just wanted people to pay again.
When I saw this had happened I contacted the developer of mIRC and pointed out that he had issued a lifetime licence. I received a new key.The last time was mIRC, the developer wanted more money, and just revoked early license keys (with lifetime updates). Only time will tell on that one, since it isn't functioning yet. This possibly addresses the activation issue https://videoredo.net/msgBoard/index.php?threads/if-videoredo-goes-offline.38070/
You were lucky, I emailed the developer with proof as per the Personal FAQ, but no response, and attempting to post in the forum was just blocked...When I saw this had happened I contacted the developer of mIRC and pointed out that he had issued a lifetime licence. I received a new key.
That's a shame. I got my original licences back in 2003 and still have the email. I hadn't used mIRC for a few years but reinstalled the software in 2020 only to find my key didn't work. After a short internet search I came across a post on Reddit which was talking about the developer failing to honour the lifetime licence so I sent him an email, including the original email as proof, to politely voice my displeasure. To his credit he replied the next day with a new licence key, though the tone of his reply came across as somewhat sarcastic. You were lucky, I emailed the developer with proof as per the Personal FAQ, but no response, and attempting to post in the forum was just blocked...
I registered way back when it was via snail mail, and still had the original email as proof.
