I amd just replacing my old Humax Foxsat PVR which has the facility to copy files from the hard drive to a USB drive. Very useful and the copy was Mpeg-2.ts which works with VRD. Nes Humaxes do not (without using extra software) so are out of the running.
I'm looking at the following boxes to replace it but can anyone confirm that the format they record in is VRD compatible ? They have a habit of not saying what file format they record in, often the reply from support is that they record in .ts format but that is not the real format, in the Humax case Mpeg-2 is the format. Within the .ts file is an Mpeg-2 file plus some other stuff which is not needed with VRD, I just input the Mpeg-2 file and away we go.
My main contenders are
VX+ Solo2 which uses Linux software and so I assume can save in whatever the software specifies, this is th most flexible. Allows a PC access to the HDD via the network.
Next is the Technomate 5402 which has an external HDD so should be able to switch it to a PC and copy, but in what format ?
Last is the Manhattan Plaza HDR S which may be able to copy files (still confirming).
Can anyone who has a PVR that can copy files in a format suitable to VRD let me know please, and help appreciated.
